Have you had the soild tested or amended recently? If you tested the soil, how long ago and do you have the results? If you amended the soild, what did you amend it with, when and how deep?
What type of texture? Sand, Sandy loam, Loam, Clay loam, Silty loam, Silt?
Have you had the drainage tested? If yes, how quickly did it drain?
How is the aeration? Loose, firm, compacted?
What direction does the area face?
How many hours of direct sunlight does it get? Full Sun (6 hours or more) half sun (4-6 hours), Shade (2-4 hours) or Dense Shade (0-2 hours)
What are the sunny hours?
From what areas are the most important views? (Note existing features or dominant plants, existing color schemes, existing texture, strong lines or focal points.)
How will the plants be watered? Irrigation system?
Are there overhanging roofs that could result in dry areas or snow damage?
Are there existing plants that will result in root competition for water and whose roots could be damaged when planting?
